Interview with
2006-2007 Regional Consultant Lindsey Meyer
The following email
interview was conducted with Region Consultant Lindsey Meyer.
Brother Meyer as an alumna of Alpha Zeta Chapter at York College of
Pennsylvania. As a consultant, she is charged with
counseling chapters via phone contact and visitations. She
also works
with chapter development includes recruitment, risk management,
image enhancement, and parliamentary procedure.
When did you
join Phi Sigma Pi and why?
I initiated and became a
Brother for Phi Sigma Pi in Spring 2005. I wanted to
join because one of my roommates at the time was a
Brother, and she was always talking so positively about
her experience. I was involved with other organizations
at the time but always felt that something was missing.
How has
the fraternity influenced you as a person?
Phi Sigma Pi has helped me grow into a more mature
individual who is not only enthusiastic to make a
difference, but has also learned how to do it.
What did
you major in at York College?
I was a Public
Relations major and minored in Speech Communication.
How would you describe your experiences at the college?
I absolutely loved college,
it was one of the best times in my life thus far. I
loved being involved and I loved to learn, so I had a
nice balance.
What positions did you hold as
a collegiate brother of Phi Sigma Pi?
I was ICR co-chair and Student Senate Liaison for my
Chapter.
How
would you describe your experiences as a brother in the
fraternity?
Being a Brother showed me how different people can be, but
that those differences are embraced to bring new ideas to
the table. Being a Brother also gave me a number of new
events to try out that I wouldn't have thought of by myself.
I loved the events I attended as a Brother, particuarly
Service since it was both fun and rewarding.
What is
your favorite memory as a brother in Phi Sigma Pi?
Becoming a Big. My Little and I had a great connection from the
beginning, so the Big/Little ceremony was a wonderful
experience.
Why did you
want to become a Region Consultant?
I felt as though my time in Phi Sigma Pi should not end with my
time in college, and when I saw this opportunity I thought it
would be perfect. I love meeting new people, and I also wanted
to start traveling more than I have in the past. I'm so happy I
went for it!
What do you
look forward to doing as a Region Consultant?
Since I had the pleasure of meeting so many great Brothers at
Grand Chapter, I am truly looking forward to meeting more during
my Chapter visits and helping them as much as possible
throughout this year. I can't wait to see what the rest of the
year brings.
