The following
facebook
interview was conducted with Delta Sigma Chapter President Christine
Bennett. Christine is also one of the brothers integral to the
development of Phi Sigma Pi Nation.
What is
the name of your chapter and where is it Located?
We are the Delta Sigma
Chapter at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
When Did you Join Phi Sigma Pi and why?
I joined as a freshman in the Spring of 2004. I was originally
interested because I wanted to meet new people, but I stuck
around because of all the amazing things we do to help each
other and our community.
How would you describe your experience with the fraternity?
My experience has been amazing. This brotherhood has helped me
grow into a strong and confident individual. I've found strong
friendships and done things I never would have done before.
What is your Favorite Memory as a brother in Phi Sigma Pi?
The first memory that jumps to my mind was at our annual Fall
Retreat. We were playing this game called "Schmee," which is
kind of like sardines. You turn off all the lights and the
person who is it grabs a partner and they go and hide. Everyone
else stays and counts to 100. After the counting is over,
everyone randomly grabs a partner and goes searching for the
hiding pair. The twist is that the only thing you can say to
anyone else is the word schmee. If they say schmee back to you,
then they aren't it. But if they don't say anything then they
are it and you have to hide with them, and the last pair to find
them is it for the next round. The first time we played this,
two of my brothers, Andrew and Jerry were in different pairs and
searching for the hiders. Jerry had this really freaky glow in
the dark watch, and Andrew saw it and yelled SCHMEE!!! at the
top of his lungs, which of course made everyone else start
screaming. After that, we made Jerry take his watch off.
What other Positions have you held in your chapter?
After I was inducted I was the Rush Co-advisor for the 2004-2005
school year, and then I was Rush Advisor on my own for the
2005-2006 school year.
How would you describe the brothers in
your chapter?
Delta Sigma is a hodge-podge of brothers. We represent every
school and nearly every major on campus. We're one part crazy,
one part serious, and of course, totally hot!
What have you (Or what do you plan to)
accomplished) as President of your chapter?
Our chapter is in a time of change at the moment. We just
graduated 18 wonderful brothers, and inducted 45 over the past
year (fall and spring) to replace them. With such a new
brotherhood (there are only 3 left, myself included, who were
inducted prior to Fall 2005,) my main goal is to keep the
chapter coherent. We've got a brand new eboard, and I really
hope to make the entire year a collaborative effort where
everyone can contribute. With the Vice President, we've already
planned some awesome bonding days and we hope that this year
will be another strong one!
