It may sound a
little clichéd, but for me, Phi Sigma Pi really is a
blend of the best aspects of an honors society, a service
organization, and a social fraternity. A scholar shouldn't just know
about books, but also about the world and how their knowledge can be
used. A leader doesn't have to push to the front, but can guide from
behind and know how to motivate someone to do their best. A person
has a responsibility to themselves and their own interests, but also
to help others. The synergy created from the combination of these
ideas is incredible.
The brothers I've met in my chapter and all across the country have
helped, taught, and inspired me to achieve this and more. The
diversity and balance that they represent is awe-inspiring and their
dedication to always bettering themselves and others is an ideal that
I admire and look to in my everyday life. Three years ago, I joined
Phi Sigma Pi to meet new people and expand my horizons, and I'm happy
to say that I got way more than I bargained for.
