Pack the essentials first,
then the extras, then the luxuries. If you have an
18 wheeler, then maybe you can take everything, but then
again, where would you park an 18 wheeler in the middle
of Washington DC? So with that tid-bit, realize
that you probably can't take everything.

Save up for Convention.
Convention does cost money, so it is better to save up
now, and not just for registration and hotel
rooms. Remember, food and souvenir money.
There is a chapter bazaar where chapter showcase and
sell merchandise such as shirts and buttons and other
things. You never know, you might see a shirt or
two that you want to have.

|
DON'T BRING
THE RENT MONEY. What this means is that remember not to
bring more money then you can afford to spend. Try
not to overspend and budget wisely.
|
|
Don't bring all of your
books to read. You may find time for one, if it is
a slow weekend. But as a convention attendee, I
can personally say that National Convention is not a
slow weekend.
|
|
Pack everything a couple of
days ahead of time. Eat well, rest well and even
take vitamin supplements the week before the event.
You may laugh at this, but there is nothing worse then
getting sick at any convention, and having to spend the
entire weekend in the hotel room.
|
|
If you have
the space, take your own pillow.
|
|
Its a good idea to take
some bottled water if you are traveling out of state.
|
|
Do not leave really valuable
items in plain site in your hotel room. Pack them
away in the your suitcase.
|
|
Ladies, do
not carry your keys and your address in the same purse
or pocket.
|
|
Keep your ID and Credit
Cards Separate.
|
|
You will be on your feet
during events such as a convention or conferences.
With that in mind, try to rest up. Rest your feet
a couple of times a day, and take a break away from the
crowd and noise every once in a while.
|
|
Pack ahead
of time. Sorry to stress this, but packing ahead
of time means you are ready to go to convention when the
time comes. By doing so, you will have more energy
getting excited for convention and not wasting energy
trying to ready for convention. Last minute
packing is not so much fun. (This coming
from a procrastinator.)
